Lockdown has hit us hard, combined with the hot weather our skin deserves a treat and a special skincare routine. Check out these skincare tips using products from your kitchen cupboards!
Dry and irritated skin? Try a homemade honey and oatmeal facemask. Mix one tablespoon of organic yoghurt with one tablespoon of ground oatmeal. Add a teaspoon of honey and blend until smooth. Apply to your face and neck for 15-20 then wash off with warm water. The combination of high zinc content and lactic acid will leave your face feeling fresh and new – it will also help lessen scars left behind from acne.
No one likes dry, cracking lips. Revitalise your lips with a honey lip scrub. Just mix one teaspoon of honey with two tablespoons of sugar. Then massage into your lips and leave the mixture for ten minutes. Wipe off (or lick it off) and love your smooth lips again.
This one’s an easy one for when you just need to relax. Hot weather plus air conditioning can mean sore, tired and dry eyes. Take 5 minutes to yourself with some cold teaspoons for relief. Pre-cool two teaspoons in your fridge then, when you’re ready to relax, grab a seat and place a spoon over each eye. That’s it – sit back and feel the relief.
While hand sanitiser can help keep us safe from viruses and germs, it can also leave our hands feeling dry and dehydrated. Heat two cups of milk in a bowl until warm (not too hot to burn yourself!) then place your hands in the liquid for ten minutes. Rinse thoroughly and say hello to silky smooth hands.
This trick has been used for generations and we don’t think it will ever go out of style. Slice up a cucumber, grab two pieces, sit back, relax and place the cucumber over your eyes. The cucumber provides an anti-inflammatory effect which, combined with its high water content can soothe and reduce puffiness from your eyes.
